According to its General Secretary, A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) is investigating why an agreement between it and the Alliance for Change (AFC) fell apart during the Election of Chair and Vice Chair of two Regional Democratic Councils (RDCs).

“There was an agreement between the APNU and AFC about the Chair and Vice Chair. The situation which arose at the elections is under investigation,” General Secretary Joseph Harmon said when contacted by Stabroek News for comment. He declined to explain the nature of the agreement.

Stabroek News understands that as part of the revised Cummingsburg Accord, the two members of the Coalition agreed that a member of the APNU would Chair any RDC won following the March 2 Regional Elections. A member of the AFC was to be elected Vice Chair.

I wonder if the AFC will disclose the ethnic and political (ex-PPP and ex-PNC) makeup of their current support base?

They (AFC) now waking up after sleeping with the devil (PNC) for five years. Nothing stays when put together on the basis of race and not ability.

The falling out started with the crossing of the floor that brought about the March elections. How many parties have already distanced themselves since the rigging scandal broke? Watch for how many are going to run and claim "It Was Not me" when the Rigging case reaches the courts and names called. In Group decisions every man thinks they are bringing the most to the table. That APNU Coalition will soon be history.

I am not surprised by what Norris King said. Amna Ali is orthodox, hard core, old guard Burnhamite, which is why her political career did not flourish under Hoyte.
Secondly, there is a term called synergy. It means that the whole is greater than the sum of the individuals. I believe, in fact I am pretty certain, that APNU and AFC generate a synergy. In other words if AFC would pull 1,000 votes on their own and APNU would pull 20,000 votes without the AFC, when they come together they pull more than 21,000 votes. It would be unwise for APNU to part company with AFC at this juncture. Everything is not about basic arithmetic.

personally I'm very disappointed in the AFC. They allowed the PNC to 'use them'. But they should have known better to enter into a 'marriage' with dem boys. They should have studied history and see how the PNC treated the United Force (UF) and Peter D'Aguiar.

This was never a Coalition, it was an "unholy hookup aimed at conning the nation but they tried to sell that it was to remove the PPP Here is the reality the PPP is back stronger than before they tried their thing.

If APNU-AFC really believe that the PPP/C govt is fraudulent then why did they take the oath in Parliament as "the Opposition"?
