All-rounder Jason Holder has been sacked as Test captain and replaced by compatriot Kraigg Brathwaite for the two-Test series against Sri Lanka starting later this month, Cricket West Indies announced late yesterday. The move comes in the wake of Brathwaite’s outstanding leadership on the recent tour of Bangladesh when a weakened West Indies whitewashed the home side in a two match series, to win their first series in Asian in nearly a decade.

Holder, along with nine other first choice players, opted out of the Test and one-day series due to COVID-19 concerns.

“We all believe that Kraigg is the right man to lead our Test side at this point in time and I’m delighted that he has accepted the role,” chief selector Roger Harper said.

Holder is a model WI cricketer. Very professional and a high level of discipline.

However captaincy is something entirely different and complex.

In all fairness he has done a fair job under the circumstances however I think he lacks the initiative and shrewdness in difficult situation.

Too many times he has his feet on the opponent's throat so to speak and allow them to come back. In my opinion he lacks aggression and crisis tactics.

England's Joe Root is in the same mould. Too passive sometimes.

I think Braithwaite deserves the opportunity again. Has proven he can think on his feet in tough times.

Thank you Holder and best wishes to Braitwaithe

Brathwaite says he had a conversation with Holder yesterday and that they are fine. Said their relationship will not change, they've known each other from childhood.

Kraigg says that he has Holder's backing and vice versa

Bravo over Brooks is nonsense! Darren Bravo is a walking wicket in test cricket!
