West Indies debutant Jeremy Solozano was taken off the field on a stretcher and transferred to a hospital from the Galle Stadium in an ambulance
for scans, after being hit on the helmet while fielding at short leg.
Karunaratne 132* ... struck the front of his helmet
Not a great way to start the series for West Indies
who have managed just three wickets on the first day.
Blackwood dropped Dimuth early for which his side paid the price
with their problems further multiplying after losing two reviews
and debutant Solozano to a blow on the helmet.
Chase to Karunaratne, no run, the debutant Jeremy Solozano is on the floor.
He has been smashed on the front of the helmet grille, gee!
The Scoop stretcher is out to carry him off the field.
The coach looks a worried man as he bustles down the stairs from the dressing room. The medical staff are out trying to examine the proceedings.
Solozano remains unmoved.
That was hit really hard by Karunaratne,
it was dropped short and the Sri Lankan skipper
had all the time in the world to rock back and muscle the pull
on the leg-side, got it the middle and bang into the helmet
of the ducking short leg fielder.
We are hearing that the rear part of the helmet has come off.
The players, umpires are waiting anxiously as the sub fielders
rush in with a bag of drinks
Chase to Dimuth, OUT ,beats him again outside off, the keeper has whipped the bails off quickly and he's appealing for a stumping! Lovely offbreak outside off, tighter than the previous ball, and the turn beat Karunaratne's outside edge as he leaned forward. UltraEdge shows no edge, but the stumping call is really, really close. From the off side angle it looks like there's hardly anything behind the crease, the leg angle shows there might be something. The third umpire wants all the angles, including stumpcam. He uses all of them, and stump cam also shows his foot is actually outside ~
